Mafiosi Season 2 Postponed Till 2013

As we announced recently in this blog post, 711 Press has changed its publishing model and will no longer be releasing single episodes of TV books. We would rather release all TV books as full season omnibuses. This means that while we have released two episodes of Mafiosi season 2 thus far under the old model, this action conflicts with our current plans and isn't fitting anymore considering the reduced price of our products.

So the bad news is you'll have to wait until 2013, tentatively February, to learn what happens to Vincenzo, Paul, and Co. The good news is you'll be able to purchase the full season in one shot, rather than looking for new episodes week after week. And you'll do this at a fraction of the old cost.

And just so we don't leave you out in the cold, we the publishers have decided to gift you a free copy of the first episode of season 2, DRM free in the Kindle format. Simply download the episode and load it on your Kindle device (or your smartphone, tablet, or MP3 Player and launch your Kindle app) and you're good to go.

Mafiosi Season 2: Episode 2: Expansion Plans

After a heated sit-down with a soldier from one of the Cleveland crews, Vincenzo takes matters into his own hands. He approaches Fat Tricky Sassano in an attempt to have the L.A. capo front him a few men in order to muscle the Cleveland crew into ceding territory to New York, thus expanding the Parazanos' reach out West. But Fat Tricky insists on having Vin and Paul do him a favor in return, which involves helping the corrupt L.A. Mayor. During all this, Vincenzo accidentally agrees to Loraine's propsition, to his regret, which helps to bring her out of a long funk. Meanwhile, Chris Bianchi and Canico want out, and they make arrangements to head back East, since the action in L.A. wasn't what they bargained for; an act that enrages Vincenzo.

Mafiosi Season 2: Episode 1: Legs Spread Eagled

In this exciting season opener, Vincenzo Abruzzi and Paul DeFicco are sent packing to Hollywood following their unprecedented success in New York, which the Paranzano bosses want to replicate out West. When the boys get there, they find a veritable virgin town waiting to be popped, and the two waste no time sinking their teeth in. But certain scattered crews from Cleveland have been operating in the vinicity, which forces Vincenzo to make a calculated move. Meanwhile, Loraine, who heads out West to join her man, hits Vin with a new proposition; one he is truly not ready for. Also, Chris Bianchi, Canico, and Tommy "Fishgut" are sent to Los Angeles by Carlo to aid Vin in his plans.

Experience the thrilling moments from Mafiosi Season One by diving into the new omnibus that features all 13 pulse-pounding episodes. Join Vincenzo Abruzzi and Paul DeFicco as they chart a course up the ladder of success in a thriving New York crime family, the Paranzanos. Dodge bullets, wine and dine with the elite, and muscle your way to the top in enterprising schemes by reading these juices pages. You won't want to miss the action and drama. Then head over here and pick up Season Two's first episode October 1st.

Here's a description of the first season:

Vincenzo Abruzzi, a young, out-of-work Italian-American male in 1950s New York is approached by his cousin Paul after a neighborhood wise guy puts the word out that he needs to seed a few new spots. A chance meeting with this made man leads to a world of crime and excess after Vincenzo is given the chance to prove himself with a test run. Along the way, he meets both a nice Italian girl who could turn out to be wife material as well as a seasoned "woman of the world," who opens him up to new possibilities. Juggling these women while concentrating on furthering his criminal career without getting whacked by a slew of new enemies proves to be more difficult that it first seemed, but the allure of mob life is also too irresistible, especially when he begins to rise up the ranks with unprecedented speed.

Mafiosi Season One Omnibus Coming September 3rd

Good news for you mafia fans who are awaiting the upcoming third season of Boardwalk Empire. I hear 711 Press author James LaFleur might be reviewing each episode as it airs on HBO. Looking forward to seeing more of what Nucky Thompson and friends are up to in Atlantic City myself, but I'm here to tell you that Mafiosi: The Complete Season One omnibus launches on Monday, September 3rd, while the first episode of season two drops on Monday, October 1st. You don't want to miss either season if you're true fans of crime fiction, particularly the kind dealing with the mafia.

Some interesting things are in store for Mafiosi season two, wherein I take the boys West, to California, which, in our fictional 711 Universe is considered vigrin territory for Vincenzo Abruzzi and Paul DeFicco. I think fans of the first season of Mafiosi will thoroughly enjoy season two.

Keep the Great Reviews Coming People

We love great reviews of our various titles, particularly glowing ones from fans of our releases who we haven't approached. Spontaneous reviews from folks who love what we put out and yearn for more is what keeps us going. And this recent review, from a reader calling himself "MattyV" deserves a major mention by us. He gushed about the first season of Mafiosi in a June 8 blog post and in his words, it's a hit (no pun intended). Some of what he said appears below:

I wasn’t exactly sure what I was in for, but let me tell you it was incredible. Following the tale of two up-and-coming mafiosi, Vin & Paul, we see them move up the ranks of one of the biggest crime familes in New York, the Paranzano family. I don’t want to go into detail because it ruins the story, what I can say is that even though there were some slow periods this serialized story kept me riveted. I will end up re-reading the collection later this summer in preparation for season two that is promised to be released in October.

If you liked the first half of “Goodfellas” that took place in the 1950′s-60′s, then you’ll like “Mafiosi – Season One” for sure.

For one, what he says about the show evoking Goodfellas is spot on. This is what we were going for initially, and we feel we've channeled that and other great films and TV shows that depict the mafia in its various stages of evolution. As to the "slow periods" he mentions, hey, the show can't be all guns and heists and schemes and war. You've got to break it up. That is the art of storytelling, else readers will be overwhelmed by all that and even risk becoming desensitized to it. Mafiosi is carefully plotted and paced, and its good to know that that paid off, since MattyV was, in his words, "riveted."

Mafiosi will indeed make its return on Monday, October 1, 2012, pop the Chianti and prepare for the drama. Till then, you can check out the first season here. And look for the season one omnibus in print and eBook format this September.

Carlito's Way or Vincenzo's Way?

In Mafiosi Season one, episode eight, the Forbidden Playground sees a great first opening night, bringing in a wad of cash from the overflowing amount of liquor sold, not to mention the illegal gambling. In fact the take is so large, Vincenzo could swim in it. And it wouldn't have come together if the young mafioso didn't have the luck of the Irish. However, things are not as kosher as they may seem. Antoinette's girls went home near penniless, after meeting reluctance from their high-profile clients who've refused to pay for the services rendered from Antoinette's stable of high-class call girls. The kink in their operation leaves Antoinette distraught, but Vincenzo assures her, he will get his way in the end. Looks like it's time for some blackmail....
