Entries in Order of 5ive (18)

And We're Back . . .

After a brief break from the hectic publishing schedule of last year, we decided to give our authors a break and allow them to catch up on outstanding material. Well the break is over folks, and we've got a lot of good stuff coming this year. Age of the Sigil will see a double-season launch (that's 2 mega omnibuses to replace the single-episode we've ceased doling out as of last year). Also look for Roger Vallon's third Kill Factor entry titled Death Strike, and offerings from a couple new authors we've signed. Ronald Coleborn's Legends of the Dread Realm saga also continues with Dragon's Tyranny. Phoenix Earth Season two will come on the heals of the season one omnibus release, and Order of 5ive and Mafiosi both get new seasons this year, but you won't have to wait week after week to read the eps., 'cause we're launching them Netflix style. So let the fun begin folks.

Shifters, 711 Press September Publication

Eighteen-year-old Devin Podrick has spent most of his life living a mile below the Nevada desert in a secret government facility known as the Bunker. It is here that he trains tirelessly to become a "tracker," a highly valued government super-soldier whose sole purpose is to travel back in time to kidnap men and women with superpowers known as "shifters," whose super abilities are brought on by special genetic traits. But Devin yearns to break free. When Devin's sensei, Grandmaster Ohayashi discovers that the Bunker's leader, Richard Dunleavy is attempting to capture and own the genetic secrets of every shifter throughout time until they find and kill the very first, the sensei devises a plan to destroy the Pool, the water conduit that is used to create a slipstream in time to the past.

But when their plans thwarted, Devin is sucked into the slipstream and pulled back thousands of years, wherein he comes face to face with the first shifter, the mother of them all. Soon he and a band of allies, spurred by a binding prophecy, must fight to free the last surviving Atlanteans amidst the total destruction of their city.

Live an all new sci-fi adventure that will explain time travel, the fall of Atlantis, the birth of the pyramids, and the fate of all mankind. Get your copy today by visiting the official product page!

If Bill Clinton Were an Evil Tyrant, He'd Be Senator Aldridge!

I must admit, I am not that political a person, but I have paid attention this year because I know this is one of the most important elections in US history. To make a fair judgment call, I've watched both the RNC and DNC coverage. All I can say is, wow, I was blown away by Bill Clinton's speech at the DNC. Regardless of your chosen party, whether you love him or hate him, Slick Willy can deliver a speech. He's quite the orator! I thought he was calm, cool, collective, and held nothing back. I don't know how many of you read Order of 5ive, but I must say that if Bill Clinton were a greedy, evil tryant in charge of a secret government program designed to create monsters and super soldiers, he'd be Senator Aldridge from the 5ive series, particularly season two, which launched in July.

When James and I plot storylines, we always look for outside resources to inspire our characters. When we created Senator Aldridge, I envisioned Aldridge as Bill Clinton possessed by a maniacal money hungry demon, bent on total US control, and in Order of 5ive Season Two, when Senator Aldridge ran for president and gave his nomination speech, it truly turned out to be something like Clinton's recent speech, at least in my mind, except for a ton of lies Aldridge was spreading, ;)

So, thank you President Clinton for inspiring one of our characters, though I don't view you quite as evil as our Senator Aldridge.

Joss Whedon Writing S.H.I.E.L.D. Series for ABC

Directly on the heels of the massive success of Marvel's The Avengers, Joss Whedon was tapped to oversee a new live-action series that would probably air on ABC since Disney, which owns Marvel also owns the television network. Whedon is said to be writing the pilot episode now, which he will also direct. This is all part of a deal that involves him overseeing what Marvel is calling Phase II of the super hero film universe they've been building with movies like Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and the Iron Man series, which all led up to the event film Marvel's Avengers, currently third on a list of all-time biggest earners at the box office, domestic and international.

S.H.I.E.L.D. (if that's what they're calling it) will not feature the core characters from any of the hit films, but it will be placed in the same universe.

Coincidentally, if you like these Marvel films, you'll probably dig a series 711 Press puts out called Order of 5ive, which features super hero-like teens with special abilities who operate in a government-back unit below the New York subway station. Action, adventure, mystery, the fulls works is packaged and presented in this neat series, so check it out.

I personally can't wait for S.H.I.E.L.D. to hit. I'm a huge fan of Whedon's, going way back to Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, not to mention Firefly.

Order of 5ive Season Two: Episode Six: Losing Strength

When King flies to LA to turn over the West Coast Order to Agent Morris, they both discuss an unusual case that involves unique hypernatural energy signatures found within members of a traveling fair. However, their efforts to pursue the matter are impeded by Senator Aldridge. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, King sends Ace, Diamond, Heart, Jack, and Joker undercover to discover the reason for the energy signatures. Unfortunately, an encounter at the traveling fair results in Diamond losing her super strength, possibly permanently. Desperate, Diamond turns to Riker for a possible cure which would reverse the suppressive vaccine the Order was given in childhood, thus returning her powers. When King orders Diamond to stay away from Riker, the 5ive and Queen have second thoughts about their own abilities and opt to go against King's wishes, regardless of any side effects or consequences they would face once King learns the truth.

Ready for Order!

All right, Order of 5ive: Season Two has launched and I'm very excited. It's been a year already and I want to see what new situations these kids will find themselves in... Ah, I guess I cannot lie, since I already know (I have a co-plotting credit after all). Been reading the Order of 5ive TV books weeks ahead of the release date and all I can say is "WOW," this is some good action adventure reading. Kids, if you're bored this summer, even if you're not, turn off the video games and pick up your Kindle. Read some Order of 5ive for loads of fun and adventure. This series reminds me of X-Men, X-Files and Heroes all wrapped up into one neat package. There are five...wait a minute, I mean, TEN super teens, now that the West Coast Order has come under King's wing as well.

You won't want to miss this action-packed season. Episode 1 is available now.

Order of 5ive Season Two: Episode One: Reorder

Season two of Order kicks off in a whole new territory. The 5ive are now in the eyes of the public, above ground in an entirely new headquarters on the top levels of the Freedom Tower. Hailed by the city of New York as saviors after eliminating threat after supernatural threat, Ace, Diamond, Jack, Joker and Heart are somehow able to handle the overwhelming change. But when King announces that five new team members from the West Coast are being forced into the club, it doesn't sit well with the original 5ive. Diamond, in her usual fashion, decides to break the new members in, Diamond style. All seems to unfold well as the teams discover one another's unique powers and they explore their new headquarters together.

This episode prepares you for things to come in the eciting second season of Order of 5ive. Get your copy here.
