Entries in the hobbit an unexpected journey (2)

Here Comes the Hobbit, the Next Butt-kicking Screen Trilogy

Yay, I loved LOTR, and now we are right around the corner from the first Hobbit move, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Now, I must admit, I haven't read the Hobbit so I am a little confused. From what I gather, this film has been turned into a trilogy, but in reality, the first two films comprise a duology, which covers the book, and the third installment, There and Back Again, is based on various short stories JRR Tolkien wrote to further explain Middle-earth. Now, some may think this will suck and is all about money, but I am very excited to see a book stretched out over several movies. It will allow them to detail more of the actual book. This is actually what I did with my Werecat Saga. I had so many ideas that I couldn't relay it just in one movie book.

So, I am very excited about this latest release in the Tolkien line. However, I believe I should go read the Hobbit now to prepare for December :) Then I'll have it out of the way so I can concentrate on season two of Age of the Sigil.

2012 Movies I'm Still Waiting For

I'm sitting here salivating because of all the hot summer movies yet to hit this year. The Amazing Spider-Man promises a thrilling reboot, while Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Rises is a necessary cerebral entry for fans of the superhero genre (which includes yours truly). Expendables 2 is also anticipated, but I might wait for the official fan feedback on that one. And I've already loaded the trailers for Django Unchained and The Bourne Legacy, which is a hot properties in my book. Beyond summer, this year is loaded with goodies. For one, Tom Cruise gives us his turn as Jack Reacher (this may or may not upset longtime fans of Lee Child. We'll just have to wait and see). I've mentioned Skyfall, the next (let's hope "great") James Bond film. Can't wait for The Great Gatbsy with Leo DiCaprio as the man himself too. What a glossy cinematic treat that's shaping up to be also. Let me not even talk about The Hobbit. And then there's RZA's Man With the Iron Fists, which, while it does not have a US release date as yet, it is rumored the film might drop sometime in December. I'm looking forward to that one hard. First image from the film below shows a guy's eye popping out:

There are also questionable films coming. Each year, some audiences get really exited about them; silly remakes or hokey sounding titles that promise ridilous plots (Snakes on a Plane anyone?). But when those films land, they tend to disappoint, big time. Well, some are coming up later this year, but they're not even worth mentioning, so I won't waste your or my time. Well, what are you folks longing to see this year?
